Butterfly Babe Patch

A collaboration with Rachel Gywnn Etzler. Her design of the "Butterfly Babe" has a deep meaning, drawing on experiences and imagery from the Soundship Spacesystem Tour.

The design features the Vimana ship from the Tour Poster and commemorates the butterfly effect Pretty Lights has had in creating this expansive community. 

"The “Butterfly Babe” came to life over the 2023 Soundship Spacesystem Tour. The story starts in Dillon, Colorado where I saw Pretty Lights for the first time. A few weeks later, I found tickets to go back to my east coast roots for the Brooklyn stop. With the help of @Marissamultiverse and @emily_egan, I stayed in an open airbnb room with complete strangers. Those strangers became family instantly. We shared our stories over meals and explored Brooklyn together. When it was time for the show, @samanthhaab adorned us in butterfly clips. We called ourselves the Butterfly Girls. We brought the magical vibes, dance moves, and love to each night. I left Brooklyn full of artistic inspiration. 

The following week, the entire Brooklyn squad landed 3 day tickets to the NOLA stop thanks to a ticket scrub. It was an automatic yes. The Butterfly Girls would reunite! In anticipation of leaving for NOLA, I asked myself, “How did I get here?” 

“How did I make a new family after spending only a weekend together?”

The answer is: Pretty Lights. 

This story is one of thousands. Pretty Lights has always planted the seed for family to grow from. 

I counted back every little action that created a reaction that got me to this place of travel, exploration of place and sound, dance, love. Marissa and I were on the phone and reflected, “Wow, I can’t believe the way that tour has had a butterfly effect on our lives.” The Butterfly Babe was born immediately after we hung up the phone. She is flying high, looking up to the future of infinite possibilities powered by the Vimana. 

She is expansive. 

She is receiving love. 

She is open to endless possibilities. 

The Butterfly Babe is inside every Pretty Lights fan. She is that inexplicable profundity that we all collectively experience. She is me, she is you, she is us.
